Northern MI Events exists because someone who actually lives up here got tired of missing things. Not a startup. Not an algorithm. A local project, made with care, for the communities we call home.
Why We Built This
If you've spent any time trying to find out what's happening in Northern Michigan, you already know the problem. You join a local Facebook group. Someone posts an event. You have to scroll past fourteen arguments, three MLM pitches, a rant about road conditions, and a blurry photo of someone's lost cat just to find it. And by the time you do, half the details are wrong and the date has already passed.
We were exhausted by it. The groups are a mess. The tourism sites are either outdated or stuffed with sponsored content from places that have nothing to do with where you actually live. Regional newspapers cover maybe one festival a month if you're lucky. And word of mouth, as warm as it is, means you only hear about things if you already know the right people.
So we built something different. One place, built by someone who lives here, who cares about this region the way you do. Not a corporate product. Not a scraper pulling content from somewhere else.
