Acceptance of Terms

By using Northern MI Events, creating a profile, submitting an event, posting a review, subscribing to email updates, purchasing a featured listing, or purchasing an annual subscription plan, you agree to these Terms of Service.

About the Service

Northern MI Events provides a public event calendar for Northern Michigan communities. Users may browse events, create profiles, submit events, review events, purchase paid featured placement, and subscribe to annual plans that include additional benefits.

Accounts

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information in your profile and for keeping your login credentials secure. You may not share your account with others or use the site on behalf of another person or organization without authorization.

Enforcement and Account Termination

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to suspend, restrict, or permanently terminate any account that we determine has violated these Terms of Service, our Community Guidelines, or any applicable law. This includes, but is not limited to, accounts involved in spam, harassment, impersonation, fraudulent listings, manipulation of reviews or ratings, abuse of subscription benefits, or any conduct that we reasonably believe harms users, the site, or the broader community.

Account termination may occur without prior notice. If a paid subscription account is terminated for a violation, no refund will be issued for any remaining subscription period. We are not required to provide a reason for enforcement actions, and we are not liable for any loss resulting from account suspension or termination.

If you believe your account was suspended in error, you may contact us through the site. We will review disputes at our discretion but are not obligated to restore any account.

Event Submissions

You may submit events that you believe are accurate, lawful, and relevant to Northern Michigan. You are responsible for having the right to post any text, images, flyers, links, logos, or other materials you submit.

Free event submissions may be reviewed before publication. Paid featured submissions and submissions from active subscribers may skip the standard manual review queue, but we still reserve the right to remove or edit listings that violate these terms, appear fraudulent, contain harmful content, or create legal or safety concerns.

Reviews

Reviews should reflect real experiences or good-faith opinions about an event. Reviews may be moderated by event holders or site administrators. We may remove reviews that are abusive, spammy, defamatory, misleading, irrelevant, or posted to manipulate ratings.

Paid Featured Listings

Featured listings are paid promotional placements for individual events. Featured placement does not imply endorsement by Northern MI Events. Payment does not guarantee attendance, sales, clicks, rankings, search engine performance, or any specific result.

Featured status applies only while the event is scheduled and live on the calendar. Once an event's date has passed or the listing is removed, the featured placement expires. No credit or refund is issued for the remaining display period of a past or removed event.

Annual Subscription Plans

Northern MI Events offers annual subscription plans (Community and Business) that provide recurring benefits including featured event placement, ad-free browsing while logged in, a verified organizer badge, and other features as described on the pricing page. Subscription benefits apply to the account holder only.

Subscriptions are billed annually and renew automatically unless canceled before the renewal date. You may cancel at any time through the billing portal, and you will retain access to plan benefits through the end of your paid period. No partial-period refunds are provided. All subscription payments are final. See our Refund Policy for full details.

We reserve the right to add, remove, modify, or discontinue any subscription feature, benefit, or promotional placement at any time, for any reason, at our sole discretion. The features and benefits described on the pricing page reflect current offerings and are not a binding guarantee of future availability. Where a change materially reduces the core value of an active subscription, we will make reasonable efforts to notify affected subscribers in advance, but we are under no obligation to provide refunds or credits as a result of any feature change. Your continued use of subscription benefits after any modification constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Sponsored Pages (Business Plan)

Business plan subscribers may attach a sponsorship to up to two town or category pages. Sponsorships are visible to all site visitors and are subject to our content standards. We reserve the right to remove sponsorships that are misleading, inappropriate, or otherwise in violation of these terms, without refund.

Prohibited Uses

You may not use the site to post illegal content, harass others, submit false or deceptive listings, upload malware, scrape the site at unreasonable volume, interfere with site operations, or violate the rights of another person or organization.

Content Rights

You retain ownership of content you submit. By submitting content, you grant Northern MI Events a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, promote, edit for formatting, distribute, and otherwise use that content in connection with the website and related event promotion.

Accuracy and Availability

We try to keep listings useful and accurate, but event details can change. Always confirm times, prices, locations, and cancellation information with the organizer before attending. The site may be unavailable, changed, or discontinued at any time.

Limitation of Liability

Northern MI Events is provided as-is. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for losses related to event changes, cancellations, inaccurate listings, user content, third-party sites, or payment provider issues.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the site after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms.
